Mira Brtka : The future is behind us

Mira Brtka : The future is behind us

Along with MIRA BRTKA's exhibition The future is behind us / Il futuro è dietro di noi / The future is behind us, which opened at the National Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art in Rome, a bilingual monograph was published in English and Italian, which follows the development Mira Brtka's artistic career in our region, as well as her period of work in Rome. The texts of Renata Cristina Mazzantini, Sava Stepanova, Ludovico Rossi Purini and Angelo Bucarelli pay tribute to the work of Mira Brtka, which is fully accompanied by the exhibition itself.

The exhibition represents one of the most important cultural events for our country in 2024, because it opened the door to one of the most visited contemporary art exhibition spaces in Rome for our artist. "Mira was a great beacon for Serbia, and this exhibition is very important because it shows us how beautiful art is and how important it is in the life of every person," said Angelo Bucarelli.

Art historian Ješa Denegri attended the opening of the exhibition and said: "This is really a big deal, because the exhibition is organized in such an important institution in Rome, and in this way we seem to be witnessing a new integration of Mira's oeuvre and the entire Illuminacion group into the Italian artistic sphere. The exhibition "The future is behind us" as much as it represents a great tribute to the artist herself, as her retrospective, in a way, it seems to want to show that Rome at that time represented the international scene and that an artist who came from a different environment, was able to build such an impressive opus precisely in Rome."
