CAMPO

CAMPO

Daniela Campo began her painting practice in Milan at the beginning of the seventies of the last century and since then she has exhibited at solo and group exhibitions in Italy, Germany, Spain, Holland, as well as in the United States of America. She had her last solo exhibition in Ljubljana. Campo is particularly connected to Belgrade because of our renowned artist Radomir Damnjanović Damnjan, with whom he has lived on the Milan-Belgrade route since the mid-seventies. Part of her oeuvre was created precisely in their studio in Belgrade, which especially refers to a series of watercolors, the most representative of which were presented at the exhibition "I LUOGHI DELLA MENTE Daniela Campo". In addition to watercolors, the exhibition included her painting works that make up the second period of her creativity, the phase called "I luoghi della mente". This exhibition presented the work of the artist to the Belgrade public for the first time, and it was followed by a monograph that deals with the author's life and analyzes her multi-decade oeuvre. The authors of the monograph are art historian and art critic Đordje Kadijević and art historian Jana Milosavljević. The exhibition and monograph were realized in cooperation with the ARTE gallery and the Italian Institute of Culture in Belgrade.

Đorđe Kadijević about Daniela Campo: "It is strange that Rajko with his pro-conceptualist ideas did not influence her at all, he did not sway her in terms of the basic commitment, for figuration, for the scene, for atmospheric painting, for a kind of, as I would say... imaginative intimism, for a phantasmagoria which she actually paints. It paints a completely consequential, alternative world, which has a coincidence with our existence, but entirely internal."
