Branko Miljuš

Branko Miljuš

Branko Miljuš was one of the most productive creators in our environment for over fifty years. Considering the peculiarities of his art, the variety of artistic techniques he used, considering the development and transformations that took place in his entire creativity, his works are constantly was current in artistic representations and at the same time was not current as literal examples for critical promotions of some of the new phenomena.

It is important to emphasize that the art of Branko Miljuš cannot be viewed outside the context of the environment and time in which he was formed, matured, and developed as an artist, but in order to reach all or almost all phenomenological layers of his work, we are directed to many broad, extra-figurative experiences. Experiences range from the structure of mythical consciousness to exact scientific knowledge to intimate impulses.

At the time of its formation, certain circumstances occurred that determined its path. On the one hand - factors of a conscious choice of spiritual, iconographic and expressive components from a certain contemporary poetic circle, because in them he felt the spiritual echo of some of his psychological and intellectual potentials. and on the other side - unconscious factors of personal imagination that transformed all those general determinants into a subjective vision of the world. This brings us to the delicate question of the driving powers of myth in our "post-mythic age". Myth is the backbone of Miljuš's art," writes art historian Ljiljana Slijepčević on the occasion of the publication of the accompanying catalog of Miljuš's exhibition organized by RTS Gallery, ARTE Gallery and PROGRES Gallery in 2014.

The publication "Branko Miljuš" published as part of the exhibition in 2014 represents an important professional contribution to a more comprehensive understanding of the entire artistic oeuvre.
